The final girl in many horror films often share some of the same characteristics:
- Typically unavailable or a virgin
- Shared history with the killer or sometimes even the monster
- Sometimes the final girl would have a unisex name
In the horror film Black Christmas (1974) The character Jess Bradford played Olivia Hussey is the final girl, she is considered one of the most influential horror film characters and one of the greatest final girls. Jess Bradford is thought to be a well developed character that does not give up, as she continues to get harassed by an unknown caller.
